ESG reporting is a strategic step with a major impact on the financial performance and sustainability of companies. The CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and the ESRS (European Single Electronic Format) have a significant impact on the disclosure of sustainability information. On 9 June 2023, the European Commission published a draft for the ESRS regulation, feedback is possible until 7 July. The ESG webcast #4 deals with CSRD, mandatory sustainability reporting, ESRS standards and disclosures and materiality assessment under ESRS.

In the 5th episode of the ESG webcast, experts explain the importance and calculation of the corporate carbon footprint (CCF) along the value chain of a company. Topics include the need to address greenhouse gas emissions, CO2 equivalents, categorisation of emission sources, framework conditions for CCF, relevant ESG standards and greenhouse gas accounting.

From 2024, mandatory sustainability reporting will apply to large companies and companies of public interest with more than 500 employees. The corporate carbon footprint (CCF) is calculated by recording greenhouse gas emissions along the value chain. Support for SMEs is provided by initiatives such as the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and tools such as the OeKB ESG Data Hub. Episode 6 of the ESG webcast series deals with drivers for ESG, sustainability reporting, ESRS, GRI standards, SDGs, CCF calculation, SBTi and the OeKB ESG Data Hub.
